For this year’s edition of the Bucerius Summer School and the Alumni Conference, the ZEIT STIFTUNG BUCERIUS and the Karl Schlecht Foundation have prepared a multi-faceted program spread across Hamburg, Lübeck and Berlin. Participants had the opportunity to interact with high-level actors at governmental venues like ministries in Berlin, giving them a firsthand look at policy-making processes and the attendant challenges. First hosted by ZEIT STIFTUNG BUCERIUS in 2001, the Bucerius Summer School has always been more than a high-profile conference. The ten-day program is about building networks and enhancing cross-cultural cooperation across all walks of public life. In doing so, we bring together promising young professionals who have been nominated by leading figures from the fields of politics, economics, media and academia. Candidates are between the ages of 28 and 36 and travel to Hamburg from all over the world. The overall aim is to foster leadership qualities in these emerging pioneers by involving them in an international dialogue on current political, economic, social and legal questions.

In a world marked by increasing complexity and disorder, the 2025 theme of the Bucerius Summer School on Global Governance addressed the urgent need to adapt our global governance systems to such complexities. Following up on the annual summer program, we maintain an active alumni network in order to deepen the connections made. In 2025, over 200 alumni attended for our fifth reunion of all Bucerius Summer Schools and other governance programs conducted by ZEIT STIFTUNG BUCERIUS since 2001. The reunion took place immediately after this year's Bucerius Summer School, from 29 to 31 August.
